SUMMARY

The Maintenance Clerk purchases and maintains spare parts and keeps track of all purchasing, the spare parts inventory, regulatory information, work orders, and budget data for department.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Some college preferred.
  • Minimum 1year purchasing experience required; 2 years of stock and inventory control preferred.
  • Some maintenance background preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Negotiation Skills.
  • Excellent Organization Skills.
  • Experienced with CMMS systems.
  • Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong Communication Skills.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write legibly in English.
  • Able to identify colors on wiring and diagrams.
  • Good hand eye coordination.
  • Exceptional attendance record.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety and legality of food.
  • Track maintenance budget, preventive maintenance and spare parts and perform all clerical duties for the maintenance department.
  • Enter purchasing data into the computer system.
  • Maintain PO purchases per company requirements.
  • Work with AP to resolve PO discrepancies.
  • Set up all new vendor accounts for the maintenance department.t
  • Order inventory items as required to maintain minimum stock levels.
  • Monitor items brought in to ensure compliance to the food safety program requirements.
  • Conduct random verification of spare parts system.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating MSDS and SDS catalog, department records and other records as directed.
  • Ship and receive department items as required.
  • Maintain all department equipment certifications, parts and supplies and other documentation as per FDA, USDA, RTE, OSHA, NIOSH and SQF standards.
  • Periodically check competitor costs on like items to insure best possible pricing.
  • Conduct formal inventory of spare parts system.
  • Responsible for removal of hazardous waste items such as: used oil, solvents and inks. Coordinate removal of items by a licensed hauler. Make sure manifests are completed and filed.
  • Insure all outside contract services are licensed and files are maintained (i.e., Refrigerate, Air, Roof. Etc.).
  • Tag and label all inventory parts according to company policy.
  • Maintain a positive and constructive work environment within the department as well as with other departments and promote teamwork.
  • Verify GMP’s and Safety standards are maintained at all times and act and/or follow-up when deficiencies are noted.
  • Ensure all food safety principles and legal requirements have been applied effectively.
  • Must work various shifts and hours including holidays and weekends.
  • Performs other duties assigned as required.

Determining timeframe: Never = 0 hours daily; Occasionally = 3 hours daily; Frequently = 3-6 hours daily; Constantly > 6 hours daily

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Be able to stand for at least an eight to twelve (8-12) hour period.
  • Be able to lift, carry, handle and grasp at least 35 lbs (Constantly)
  • Be able to lift, carry, handle and grasp at least 50 lbs (Occasionally)
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist up to 50 lbs (Occasionally)


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high and will include, but not be limited to, production machinery, computers, printers, telephones, and normal communication. Hearing protection will be required for all in plant activities.
