Mail Clerk - Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital

Responsible for the efficient and accurate opening, sorting, and distributing of all mail to all departments. This position is accountable for all mail from the post office as well as all mail from Carilion facilities. The responsibilities also include outgoing mail services, outgoing copy services, and centralized copy room and copier responsibilities.

• Sorts all mail from all incoming services per the assigned mail room location.
• Internally delivers, if required, all mail from the mail room site to all departments or substation mail rooms within the specific physical location.
• Sorts and categorizes all outgoing mail for efficient pickup and delivery to all end users.
• Reviews and changes, if required, the mode of mailing outgoing mail to the most economical means of mailing.
• Provides outgoing mail services in the areas of Automated mail, UPS, FedEx, and USPS Certified mail. Is proficient in the fundamental requirements of each of these outgoing mail services.
• Insures the proper operation of copiers at those sites where copying and mail activities are congruent. Maintains the appropriate inventories of copy paper for such equipment as designated by Materials Management for that site/facility.
• Maintains current, up-to-date skills to function with continuously changing technology. Attends inservice education, seminars, or other appropriate educational opportunities as required by Carilion Clinic policy.

What We Require:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent desired.
Experience: Materials management or related experience desired.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Valid Virginia Drivers License.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Excellent communication skills. Ability to act independently with minimum supervision. Solid team player both within the system and at the site.
