- Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or three or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Previous experience with Aida, Maypress, National, Clearing preferred.

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) holds the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aero engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment. Headquartered in Torrance, CA; we employ over 6,000 people in 11 countries at 32 locations. HFS is a business unit of Howmet (NYSE: HWM).
This position sets up and operates or sets up for other operators all types and sizes of forming presses (60 to 700 ton).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assembles and adjusts die set by selecting proper tooling and tests to assure proper clearance.
- Sets up according to work order and layouts to insure proper form configuration.
- Uses precision measuring instruments and reads blueprints to check parts for conformance to specifications.
- Operates machines to ensure proper functioning and releases to and instructs operators in procedures for producing parts in conformance with specifications.
- Performs other related tasks in departments to which assigned such as: Assembling, drilling, deburring, sorting, counting, etching, stamping, recording of parts processed and housekeeping
- Reads blueprints and has knowledge to use micrometers, calipers, comparators, thread gauges, depth micrometers and dial indicators as needed.
- S.P.C. charting as required
- Assist factory supervision and leaders in the training of machine operators.
- Parts to be lifted and/or transported may weigh up to 30 lbs.
- Keeps work area clean, safe and in an orderly fashion on a daily basis.
- Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.
