About the Job:
Our team is growing, and Marcon Metal USA (www.marconmetal.com) is hiring an experienced Logistics Coordinator to join our dynamic team based out of Ferndale, WA.
About the Position:
Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes, directs and controls the work of the department in accordance with guidelines and schedules set by the Production and Processing teams.
- Negotiates with and chooses shipping carriers to obtain most efficient rates and to ensure timely delivery according to guidelines or customer requirements.
- Ensures timely delivery of incoming goods and materials and oversees proper handling of paperwork associated with received goods and verification of invoices.
- Ensures all paperwork is completed for materials to be shipped from the facility checking for accuracy including bill of lading, pick list, etc.
- Approves all purchase orders for the department according to established company policies and guidelines.
- Bill of Lading management, including preparing Bills of Lading.
- Coordinate and prepare international shipments via the BorderConnect systems (ACE and ACI eManifests)
- Count, inspect and document inbound and outbound cargo shipments for receiving or delivering those shipments per the requirements of the Bill of Lading.
- Count, weigh and verify actual shipment to the Bill of Lading.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks.
- Tagging and maintaining merchandise.
- Monitoring and counting stock and hardware.
- Sorting and stacking goods into specific zones.
- Accurate physical and electronic receiving of material.
- Delegates work to the Shipper/Receiver helpers and checks quality of work.
- Maintaining a safe and organized work environment, where safety is of the highest importance.
- Provides proper training to employees.
- Provides assistance to subordinates by answering questions, solving problems, training, coaching and reviewing job performance.
- Assists with interviews of prospective employees and participates in hiring for the department.
- Serves disciplinary actions required and participates in termination when necessary following established company policies in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Reviews and approves employees' requests for vacation and personal time.
- Performs other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years shipping/receiving experience.
- Import/export experience.
- Forklift experience required.
- Ability to use a pallet jack and independently lift 50 – 100 lbs.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- High proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Solid math skills.
- Knowledge of freight and transportation both domestically and internationally.
- Ability to work on your feet all day.
- Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment requiring multi-tasking and prioritizing.
- Ability to work independently and in conjunction with other team members.
- Steel industry or warehouse experience an asset.
