Responsibilities/Duties
The Logistics Coordinator at plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of logistics, optimizing resources, and enhancing safety standards within the construction and plant-holding yard. Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, this role involves meticulous oversight of transportation, asset utilization, and continuous improvement initiatives. The person in this role effectively communicates with the drivers, Production Coordinators, and customers to ensure on-time deliveries using efficient routing so we can meet the needs of our customers.
- Constantly monitors route drivers to ensure the driver is on schedule.
- Organizes load deliveries and makes decisions on the effective use of vehicles and the skill of drivers.
- Collaborates with drivers to ensure safe practices and load securement through reporting, and assists with ensuring safety inspections are done on all equipment daily.
- Ensures that safety is a top priority with pre-trip inspections, report repairs as needed, and preventive maintenance on the fleet.
- In partnership with Warehouse Supervisor and Drivers, ensures accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports, and other records are maintained.
- Follows load slip process and maintains appropriate records and paperwork.
- Organizes, maintains, tracks, and repairs equipment and trucks in winter.
- Assists drivers in loading and unloading trucks.
- Responsible for updating the time system for job tracking and pulling orders.
- Keep up on P.O.s (Purchase Orders) by working with the purchasing department.
- Reorders products as needed in coordination with the Warehouse Manager.
- Assists with monitoring inventory and restocking bulk products in the yard.
- Monitors “junk” bins in Middleton and Verona and ensures they are kept clean.
- Available to fill in when the Warehouse Supervisor is not available to lead the team.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures such as attendance, conduct, and dress code.
- Communicates with and provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers in person, via phone, email, and text message.
- Maintains compliance with company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Work is primarily performed indoors with exposure to standard office conditions
- Occasionally lifts weight of up to 25lbs
- Vision and fine motor skills required for the use of computers
- Exposure to standard office conditions, including exposure to heating and air conditioning and operation of computers.
Schedule
- This is a Full-time Year Round position.
- Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Skills You Need
- A valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with a good driving record is required.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of logistics, warehouse, or Logistics Coordinator experience is preferred.
- knowledge of landscape material equipment and fleet.
- Working knowledge of Federal and State occupational safety and health regulations, with a strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Ability to prioritize workload and shift gears quickly in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing demands.
- Able to accurately and quickly read maps
- Knowledge of landscape material, equipment, and fleet.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
