The Loan Servicing Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of functions related to the maintenance of mortgage, consumer loans and credit cards. This includes performing CORE system updates, system testing, account maintenance, loan reviews and rate updates. This position is responsible for ensuring that all mortgage and consumer loans perform according to terms and oversee that all required changes in terms, notifications and other written correspondence is performed in compliance with ECU’s policies/procedures and all State and Federal laws and regulations concerning Loan Servicing.

Essential Duties and Functions: (include but are not limited to)
- Perform regular quality control through use of Core and vendor reports to identify and correct any out of balance situations or exceptions for all inputs relating to loans and ancillary products. Responsible for file maintenance of loan ancillary products that may include GAP, MBI, Debt Protection, PMI, CPI and others
- Maintain loan and credit card accounts and process error-free service requests through CRM, including but not limited to loan modifications, corrections, rate and payment changes, due date changes, receivable edits and subordination requests
- Provide support to member facing staff and accept member escalation regarding difficult and/or complex loan related inquiries
- Thorough understanding of loan payments, charges and corrections in Core. Able to test Core and other systems as they relate to Loan Servicing to ensure functions are working properly prior to go live. Work with vendors to troubleshoot issues or enhance services and make recommendations for procedural changes to improve efficiency and automation while maintaining compliance with regulations
- Responsible for Consumer Loan and Mortgage collateral management. This includes having a clear understanding of loan documents such as the note, sales contract and deed of trust. Work with trustee to prepare reconveyance for recordation and archival. Obtain original notes back from the custodian upon payoff, short-sale, and/or deed in lieu
- Perform escrow disbursements and review the annual analysis statements for accuracy
- Assist the team with credit card servicing oversight, system maintenance, quality control, and reporting for all credit card programs. Provide support to frontline and marketing teams regarding research requests, campaign management, or other credit card related needs
- Oversee accuracy in the Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS). Deactivate records at payoff and prepare MERS Corporate Assignments as needed for loans in foreclosure or bankruptcy. Assist with MERS audits and reconciliations, as needed
- Responsible for consumer loan collateral management. Ensure liens are perfected. Assist with bundling DMV paperwork as needed. Follow up with dealers or members to resolve outstanding title issues. Maintain system records for new and released liens. Ensure automation is functioning properly, releases are processed within required timeframes and correct any errors
- Assist with monthly charge offs per direction from management
- Review reports related to Loan Servicing duties to identify, update and report status of processes, file maintenance, delinquent taxes and lien position
- Work closely with lending departments and provide feedback of trends or lending related items
- Perform other duties, as assigned
- High School Diploma
- 2+ years Lending experience
- 2+ years Loan Servicing experience
- 2+ years of DMV experience with a financial institution
- Demonstrated ability to be fiscally responsible
Desirable Experience and Education
- Bilingual a plus
