Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) Inspector Assistant (Long Beach)compensation: $35/hour

A 30-year industry leader in the petroleum and compliance services industry is looking to grow its PART-TIME, ON-CALL team of AST (Aboveground Storage Tank) Inspection Assistants. These individuals assist licensed AST Seal Inspectors, performing all tasks necessary, including confined space entry, attendant duties, gap measurements, and data collection.
Our teams respond to the filling of aboveground bulk storage fuel tanks by inspecting floating roofs. These events may occur any day of the week, with varying start and end times, primarily between 6am and 6pm. Weekend work is common. The average hours of service per week may vary from 4 hours to up to 30 hours depending on the frequency of transition of crude oil from tanker, train or pipeline to the bulk storage facilities.
WORK SCHEDULE: When an inspection is ordered, a dispatch text will be issued to all eligible AST Inspector Assistants to accept or decline. Jobs are assigned to eligible AST Inspector Assistants on a first-to-respond basis. A minimum 4-hours are paid per call.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with scheduling flexibility and availability, and the ambition to maximize their earning potential.JOB REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Daily requirements include, but are not limited to the following: safely travel to and from testing location, perform mechanical duties requiring aptitude and skill, send and receive work schedule and time cards through a mobile computer/device, complete ongoing professional safety training, attend required meetings and/or teleconferences, and represent the company with the utmost professionalism and integrity. A background check and drug screening (we have a fleet of DOT/CMVs) is part of the hiring process. This position requires travel to bulk storage facilities in Long Beach, Compton, Wilmington, San Pedro and El Segundo California. The primary area of operation is the greater Long Beach area. The ideal home location for the Assistant is within a 1-hour drive of Long Beach, CA.
JOB SKILLS AND CONDITIONS: The ideal candidate must be safety conscious, professional, very well organized, flexible and responsible. Work conditions and physical capabilities of the job include: driving, climbing ladders, repetitive tasks, eye-hand coordination, mechanical dexterity, sitting, standing, standing for extended periods, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, data collection, exposure to outdoor working conditions in all climates, access and maneuverability within small/confined spaces, and person-to-person communications.
TRAINING AND COMPENSATION: The company provides all necessary tools and training. A responsible driving history is required. This part-time, on-call position pays $35 per hour (CA overtime eligible) for qualified candidates after training, with a 4-hour minimum paid for each job. No experience is necessary, however prior petrochemical work, confined space entry, safety training, and inspection-related experience is beneficial.
