Job Description
Capitol National Bank, located in Lansing, Michigan, is currently looking to fill the position of Loan Documentation Specialist. This position is responsible for processing and input of loan documentation into the Bank’s core system for routine and complex loans as well as providing support for lending officers as needed.
- Performs due diligence on new/renewed loans in preparation of documentation
- Performs post-closing review of all new loans, renewals, extensions and amendments in the Bank’s core system.
- Prepares and reviews loan and SBA loan documents to ensure accuracy of documentation in accordance with approved loan requests prior to release to loan officers.
- Identifies, recommends and participates in the implementation of procedures and workflow improvements for loan department processes.
- Conducts independent review of loan documents and reviews loan documents following approval from loan officers to ensure loan file is complete and adheres to accuracy standards
- Assists in maintaining loan tickler system to ensure timely receipt of collateral documents and title policies.
- Maintains and revises filing and record keeping systems, maintains a variety of loan files and documents.
- Tracks and processes paid-off loans, lien releases and mortgage discharges.
- Assists customers and Bank personnel with inquiries pertaining to loan applications and documents; handles related correspondence and telephone inquiries.
- Prepare loan for upload, pay invoices and prefect lien
- Review documentation for accuracy
- Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
Skills/Equipment
- Working knowledge of loan compliance and ability to read and understand loan documents.
- Knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Office and other relevant software programs and their application.
- Ability to function with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to organize and manage several priorities simultaneously while working under pressure and deadlines.
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with all levels of Bank personnel and outside business contacts.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- A minimum of three years related experience in a commercial lending environment.
