Job description

Job Title: Broadcast Operations Specialist
Relevant Experience: 8+ Years
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Hybrid (Detroit, Michigan)
Duration of Assignment: 12 Months
Education: Electrical Engineering or Network/System Engineering
Domain: OTT/Television Broadcasting

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Network/System Engineering, with a significant emphasis on Television Broadcast, Streaming, and OTT experience, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience deploying in a network or systems environment that enables Television Broadcast, Streaming, and OTT services.
  • Work experience in a Television Operations Center, involving 24/7 monitoring of live video and audio streams.

Responsibilities:
1. Respond to and troubleshoot incidents escalated from the Tier 1 Analyst team.
2. Perform advanced troubleshooting following defined SOPs and meeting SLA levels.
3. Triage and escalate incidents as necessary, ensuring end-to-end ownership until ticket closure.
4. Validate problem descriptions, conduct detailed diagnosis, and track incidents in the trouble-
ticketing system.
5. Handle backlog tickets from previous shifts and ensure necessary follow-ups.
6. Maintain track of external escalations, perform follow-ups for outstanding tickets and Root
Cause Analyses (RCAs).
7. Participate, drive, and manage major incidents.
8. Develop postmortem reports and drive problem management.
9. Communicate and handle escalated incidents, working closely with customers and stakeholders with regular outage notifications.
10. Work on service requests, perform new station turn-ups.
11. Provide regular feedback on troubleshooting processes or documentation gaps.
12. Update existing and develop new SOPs.
13. Perform any additional tasks assigned by the team lead/manager.
14. Update infrastructure documentation, including system understanding docs, standard operating procedures, and infrastructure diagrams.
15. Actively participate in daily standup meetings and shift handover calls, providing updates on pending tickets for the next shift. Required Skills/Qualifications:
 5+ years of experience in Network Operations Center (NOC) as an L3 engineer or Team lead in a Video NOC or technical support center technician/engineer, or network troubleshooting involved with broadcast, streaming, OTT platforms, MVPD Operations.
 Good understanding of NOC monitoring tools and event handling.
 Familiarity with ITIL processes.
 Experience in end-to-end incident management, ticketing/ticketing tools, and supporting maintenance requests.
 Good understanding of data networking/data communications/video networking technologies.
 Must have a good understanding of switching/routing technologies, including Cisco/Juniper device CLIs.
 Monitoring and analyzing network traffic with Logic Monitor, Solarwinds NTA.
 Experience in firewall configuration and deployment – Fortinet Fortigate, Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX.
 Experience with Juniper MX40, EX4200, SRX 1500 series, and Juniper Apstra.
 Experience in configuring and administering F5 Big-IP Load Balancer (GTM and LTM) for naming resolution, and writing iRules to monitor and tune load on network servers.
 Deploying and configuring SPLUNK (SIEM Tools) to collect and aggregate log and event data to help identify and track breaches.
 Deploying SDWAN solutions vEdge, vBond, vSmart, vManage.
 Wireless Infrastructure experience such as Cisco Meraki, Aruba, Clear Pass Access points,
WLANs, RF tuning, and BYOD management.
 In-depth understanding and experience in Audio/Video technologies (MPEG-4/H.264,
HEVC/H.265, ASI, MPEG2 Transport Streams, ASI, (HD-)SDI ATSC, PCM, AC3).
 Experience in at least two video platforms (e.g., Telestream/Tektronix, Medius/Sentry, Sencore,
Tag, etc.) with a solid understanding of all relevant video platforms.
 Experience with a Video Delivery Network in at least two areas (e.g., Acquire, Encode, Encrypt,
Deliver).
 Ability to perform advanced troubleshooting on audio/video technologies/IPTV
platform/switching and routing protocols.
 Experience in rolling out configuration changes and project deployments.
 Provide guidance to Video Operations Analysts.
 Perform problem management and develop post mortem reports in coordination with Video
Operations Analysts Leads.
 Familiarity with American concert events live streaming.
 Must be willing to work in shifts, 24 x 7 operations.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $70.00 - $90.00 per hour
