LINE OPERATOR
JOB TITLE: Line Operator FLSA: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Production
REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor
A Line Operator is an integral position to the manufacturing operations. As a successful Line Operator, progressive career opportunities with Dura-Line could include Lead Line Operator and Production Supervisor.
Pay: $18.25 an hour plus $1.50 an hour for shift differential
Shift: Monday-Friday. 2nd Shift, (3:00pm-11:00pm)
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
Operate production extrusion lines required to meet production goals including set up, troubleshooting, tooling changes, monitoring, adjustments and documenting equipment operating conditions. Maintain quality standards, complete reports and documentation required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform extrusion line start-ups and changeovers, monitor and troubleshoot extrusion process.
- Make adjustments to equipment such as gravimetric dosing system, pin, bushing, sleeve, vacuum tank, ultrasonic thickness gauge, laser outside diameter gauge, ink jet printer, puller, and coiling equipment to maintain product quality standards.
- Monitor production run and maintains required documentation and records equipment downtime and causes.
- Follow all safety requirements for the position and all company safety procedures.
- Perform routine, basic maintenance on equipment; for example: replacement of heater bands, change filters, and calibration of feeders.
- Train new employees on extrusion process, line and downstream operations.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in plastic extrusion machine operations.
- Knowledge of PLC controlled & integrated equipment is preferred.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Able to verbally communicate, read and write in the English language.
- Ability to perform basic math; add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Able to use measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
OCCUPATIONAL AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable assistance.
- Ability to climb, stoop, bend, kneel, twist at waist and move about manufacturing floor.
- Ability to hear equipment sounds, sense temperature changes in production of product, see and discern defects in the finished product.
- Able to distinguish between colors.
- Ability to stand on feet up for prolonged period of time in performance of job duties.
