Job Description
Estacada Library is looking for a librarian to connect with adult library users and to promote recreational and educational reading materials, programming, and services. The ideal person will be knowledgeable about books and media, and be able to engage and inform users about our adult collections. You are creative, collaborative, and eager to initiate services that will excite our users.
Responsibilities include:
- Collection Development: Select, order and curate collections for adult fiction, genre fiction, and magazines
- Events & Programs: Create entertaining and educational events for adults
- Outreach: Collaborate with youth & outreach librarians on ideas & opportunities
- Reference & Readers’ Advisory
- Publicity: Edit the monthly The Estacada Library READER email newsletter; create promotional media
- Instruction: Offer tech learning opportunities for adults
- Develop and maintain community partnerships
- Serve on library district-wide committees
This position reports to the Library Director. The position is currently open to be filled immediately, with a start date to be determined.
Hours and Compensation:
This is a full-time, 40 hour/week position that will include at least one early evening shift and one weekend day a week. Librarian Salary Scale range is $31.59/hour to $38.51/hour.
Education & Experience:
Master of Library Science (MLS) degree from an ALA-accredited program is required. A minimum of two years’ experience working in public libraries focusing on Adult Services is preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills (speaking and writing) are a plus.

About Estacada Library:
Estacada Library is located approximately 30 miles S.E. of downtown Portland, Oregon, with a population of 5,347 within city limits, and a total service area population of 19,352. It is a department within the City of Estacada, and is part of the Libraries in Clackamas County (LINCC) consortium of 13 libraries. Estacada Library has served the public in four locations, beginning in a general store, since 1913.
Library facilities include a 12,000 sq. ft. library, opened in 2006, and the adjoining Flora Community Room for meetings and events. The library is on the site of Wade Creek Park and has use of the new Wade Creek Park Community Room, completed in Spring 2023, with a stage and amphitheater for outdoor events. The library has stable funding through a county library service district.
The Estacada community is experiencing tremendous growth, with a 70% population increase since 2016. This is bringing in many new library users and opportunities for new programs and services, including a mobile library for community outreach.
