If so, we have an exciting opportunity as a YAP Skills Trainer in our Young Adult Program in Albany, OR.

(Program will be opening in the New Year)

Job Summary:

Works under the weekly supervision of the YAP Supervisor in the planning, support, and implementation of skill interventions for youth in the Young Adult Program. Provides education, support, direction, and modeling of personal care to youth to support specific youth treatment goals and to prepare the youth for success outside of the Young Adult Program environment. Consults with team members and agency personnel regarding current youth issues related to personal care. On a daily basis provides and documents personal care and Skills Training services to youth which may include but is not limited to support related to physical appearance, grooming, nutrition, physical & dental health, medication administration, sleep hygiene, exercise, housekeeping, and food planning and preparation.

About the Opportunity

40/hours week.

  • Front End AM ST - (Sunday thru Wednesday) - 7am - 5pm
  • Front End PM ST - (Sunday thru Wednesday) - 12:30pm -10:30pm
  • Backend AM ST - (Wednesday thru Saturday) - 7am - 5pm
  • Backend PM ST - (Wednesday thru Saturday) -12:30pm -10:30pm
  • Front End AON - (Sunday thru Wednesday) - 9:30pm - 7:30am
  • Backend AON - (Wednesday thru Saturday) - 9:30pm - 7:30am

Starting rate of pay: $19.00 + shift differential if applicable.

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

  • Manage crisis situations as required by implementing crisis interventions/plans as directed by supervisor, or in case of emergency, by contacting appropriate officials for interventions.
  • Model, coach and counsel youth regarding skills related to personal care which may include such topic areas: physical appearance, grooming, nutrition, physical & dental health, medication administration, sleep hygiene, exercise, housekeeping, and food planning and preparation.
  • Provide individual and group supports to youth with regard to personal care strengths and needs.
  • Support clients in their transition out of the Young Adult Program with respect to their personal care needs (i.e. preparing for offsite laundry, setting up a kitchen and personal meal plan, ensuring adequate personal care items in the apartment, budgeting as related to personal care items and items for the home, setting up an exercise routine outside of the program, etc.)
  • Work with supervisor to coordinate the implementation of personal care plans to address the strengths and needs of youth and their family systems.
  • Provide support, education and modeling of healthy personal choices and basic behavior and crisis management to youth modeling professionalism, effective communication, problem solving and decision making that support youth treatment goals.


About You:

  • Ability to understand and work effectively with Young Adults and a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • An approach to problem solving, goal achievement and corrective action strategies which are systematic, orderly, and empirical.
  • Demonstrated comprehension of adolescent & Young Adult treatment principles, models, concepts, and theories
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, organize, implement, monitor, and evaluate complex projects involving multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Demonstrated dedication to a treatment approach which addresses the needs of the youth in the context of the family and community systems in which they must function.
  • Demonstrated ability to professionally, ethically and efficiently meet productivity standards as assigned by the YAP Manager
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences or a related field or QMHA equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Two (2) full years' experience as a direct care worker with at-risk youth or Young Adults in a treatment setting.
