About the job : Under the general direction of the Chief, Office of Legislative & External Affairs, the Legislative Coordination Branch Manager (SSM II) is responsible for supervising the legislative & external affairs office comprised of Associate Governmental Program Analysts (AGPAs) and an Office Technician. The Legislative Coordination Branch Manager (SSM II) will have the responsibility for planning, assigning, and reviewing the work performance of professional staff; reviewing and analyzing proposed legislation and informing management on its impact or potential impact; interacting with members and staff of the State Legislature, California Congressional Delegation, public and private agencies and organizations, tribal representatives, and members of the public.
The Legislative Coordination Branch Manager will also work with the International Affairs Office and Office of Tribal Coordination, including tribal representatives, as well as lead the legislative office in disaster activation information sharing activities with local, state, federal, and tribal elected officials.
The Legislative Coordination Branch Manager (SSM II) may be required to travel on short notice and work overtime as necessary in support of Cal OES program objectives.

Working Conditions
Hybrid Telework: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule which includes up to two days of remote work per week. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.
DMV Pull Program : Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid California Driver's License (CDL). In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
