Legal Secretary

Bendin, Sumrall & Ladner, LLC is seeking a Legal Secretary with 2+ years of strong litigation experience to provide support to multiple attorneys in a fast-paced law firm environment. Medical malpractice defense is a plus. Successful candidates will have an ability to maintain and prioritize workloads and deadlines and have strong verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office & document management systems is needed. Bachelors degree preferred.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Job Responsibilities

• Open, develop, and maintain physical and electronic case files through trial.
• Gather, request, and organize medical records, bills, claim files, etc.
• Maintain calendar for partner and associates to include court appearances, depositions, meetings, case deadlines.
• Coordinating depositions, hearings, mediations, etc. in multi-party cases.
• Draft and file various pleadings including interrogatories, requests for production of documents, subpoenas, motions, and notices in Federal and State Court.
• Prepare settlement and release agreements in varying complexities.
• Assist attorneys with discovery document management and production.
• Assist in preparing attorneys for hearings, trial, depositions, and mediations, including preparing notebooks of key documents and exhibits.
• Perform electronic filing in State and Federal Courts via Odyssey, Peach Court, and CM/ECF electronic filing.
• Draft correspondence and e-mails with clients, all counsel, medical facilities, various courts, and all interested parties.
• Perform time entry and require monthly budgeting and ensure timely billing.
• Experience with document management software, preferably iManage.
