Small but mighty law firm in Fairfax, VA, seeks a top-tier Legal Assistant/Paralegalto assist a team headed by a firm partner. Ideal candidate should have at least two years of business litigation experience with federal and Virginia courts knowledge required; DC and MD local courts knowledge a plus. Ability to meet tight deadlines with potential for daily filings, Office 365 proficiency, and excellent grammar/editing skills essential.
Salary: $70K to $90K.

Must have litigation experience.
Must be well-versed in e-filings in metro DMV and federal courts, scheduling, and calendaring duties. Will assist with all phases of litigation in a collegial team setting.
Duties:
Prepare, review, finalize legal documents such as motions, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, interrogatories, and briefs. Prepare hard copy filings. Prepare and submit online filings including exhibits. Summarize depositions, interrogatories, and testimony. Save, maintain, and organize documents and emails to digital databases (NetDocuments, OneDrive, litigation vendor databases, client databases.) Prepare hearing binders. Handle administrative tasks and logistics. Serve as point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, court officials and vendors. Coordinate attorneys’ schedules, conference room scheduling for client meetings, depositions, and arbitrations/mediations. Schedule court reporters. Maintain attorney calendars. Monitor case dockets. Compute and calendar case due dates and deadlines in Outlook. Conduct research in Westlaw, state corporation databases, and PACER. Provide trial support. Procure necessary documents, including deposition transcripts and/or abstracts. Prepare trial notebooks, witness lists, exhibits, and subpoenas. Attend trial for electronic exhibit handling. Assist with accounting (attorney fees affidavits) and billing (time entry.) ·
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Expertise in Office 365 applications – Word, Outlook, Excel, OneDrive, PowerPoint.
High proficiency in red-lining, track changes in Word and proper formatting of documents.
Expertise in Adobe Acrobat.
Experience using Westlaw.
Excellent typing skills – minimum 75 wpm.
Experience in or knowledge of litigation databases, e.g., Relativity, CS Disco, CasePoint.
Experience in local DMV and EDVA court procedures and rules.
Willingness to back-up other staff in office. attitude always.
