THE POSITION
Douglas County District Attorney
On-Call Position / Non-Benefited / No Guarantee of Hours.
This position will serve in an at-will position under an elected official
Job Summary: This position performs legal clerical activities to assist the District Attorney and legal staff in processing criminal cases for the State of Oregon.
Essential Functions:

- Receptionist duties
- Assist civilians/witnesses with questions
- Check witnesses in for hearings
- Process Expungement requests
- Close all Criminal case files
- Distribute incoming mail including e-Court notices
- Process evidence disposition requests
- Provides data entry of attorney notes pertaining to defendant case files
- Enter hearing dates and other related information
- Prepare legal documents pertaining to specific case files at attorney's request; prepare trial worksheets and witnesses
- Make all travel accommodations as needed
- Obtain relevant information to specific court cases from outside agencies/courts
- Open new case files, prepare appropriate documents and route files to departments for review and discovery.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required, will be considered. however, the following is preferred:
- Three years clerical experience of a progressively responsible nature, two years of which must have been in a private law office.

- Regular and consistent attendance
- Computer experience
SCREENING & EVALUATION
A written examination and typing test for those applicants selected for an interview may be
scheduled at a later date.
Background Investigation: While not part of initial applicant screening, the finalist for this
position may be required to pass a criminal history background check as part of a
contingent offer of employment. Conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual from employment. Successful candidates for this position must also pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check. The CJIS Clearance is done within the first 30 days of employment and is processed at no expense to the applicant/employee.
Drug Screen: Employment is contingent upon a pre-employment drug screen. Presence of nonprescribed drugs, including marijuana, on drug screen results will result in disqualification pursuant to the County's drug and alcohol policy.
Position requires a minimal amount of driving. Finalist will be required to provide a court print driving record that meets the , as part of contingent offer of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is in an office environment and generally sedentary, however, may require bending, hearing voice conversations, keyboarding, pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Some positions will require frequent walking and use of stairs. Some positions may require occasional driving.
