Job Description: We are currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join our team on a part-time, hourly basis. No legal experience required. The position would entail 24-30 hours per week, and the hours per day and days of the week are negotiable. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our office.
Responsibilities:
- Answering phones, taking messages, and managing client inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
- Communicating with Disability Determination Service and Social Security Administration.
- Organizing and maintaining client files, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation.
- Assisting attorneys in preparing and processing Social Security Disability claims.
- Coordinating appointments and managing attorney calendars.
- Requesting medical records and medical source statements.
- Drafting and proofreading legal documents, correspondence, and forms.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft office software.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Compensation:
- Hourly compensation commensurate with experience. $18-22 per hour.
