Job Details:
Mercer University department of Mathematics is searching for a Lecturer to begin August 2024. This is a renewable, nine-month, non-tenure track position.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching 27 hours of courses per year, maintaining weekly office hours, and contributing to the educational efforts of the department.
Qualifications:
A master's degree or doctorate from an accredited college/university in mathematics or a related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics at the time of appointment is required. Successful candidates must demonstrate a commitment to teaching introductory level mathematics and statistics.
We welcome candidates who demonstrate the potential for excellent undergraduate teaching, a desire to be an active citizen in the department, and readiness to develop or implement pedagogies that promote the learning of students of all backgrounds (racial, ethnic, socio-economic, able/disabled, etc.).
Selection of the final candidate is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

In addition to strong majors in mathematics and statistics, the department provides the mathematics and statistics courses for the business, engineering, computer science, and pre-health programs. Our students reap the rewards of student-centered instruction and engaged learning, a focus on mathematical writing and presentation skills, and opportunities beyond the classroom as they go on to graduate school, become teachers, and pursue diverse careers. In addition to a B.A. and a B.S. in mathematics and a B.A. in statistics, we contribute to the data science minor offered by the Department of Computer Science.
