JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our Sylvan Instructors will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and given the tools to teach in a small group setting. We will provide personalized instruction in Reading, Math, Writing, Study Skills, SAT/ACT Prep and homework support.
As a successful Instructor, you will:
- Teach Sylvan based programs and personalized learning plans
- Supervise, interact with and motivate students during instruction hour while working on lessons that adapt to the students' individual skill and pace, making learning challenging and fun, never frustrating.
- Provide students with instant feedback and recognition.
Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment.
Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching at Sylvan.
- Applicant is enrolled in an Alternative Certification Program
- Applicant has teaching experience that does not require certification, such as teaching in private school or in institution of higher education
- Applicant is in sophomore year of college or higher and enrolled in a program as an education major.
- Bachelor's degree
- State level teaching certification preferred

- $20/hour depending on experience
- School site shifts Tuesday and Thursday 3:15-5:15pm. Additional hours available in our retail location in Ann Arbor.
- No lesson planning or parent conferences
- Focus on making a difference, our directors handle all scheduling, payments, conferences, and planning
This is an hourly, non-exempt position.
