Position Summary:The Department of Communication and Media Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for a non tenure-track position in Journalism, to begin Fall 2024. The successful candidate will have at least a Master’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communications or a related field and significant college-level experience teaching journalism.
This ongoing lecturer will have primary responsibility for teaching the department’s journalism courses and advising the college’s student news publications. This person would teach other media studies courses – such as Media Law and Ethics, Social Media, Global Media in a Digital Age—to round out their load. Lecturers at North Central teach a 3-3 load but the person in this position would receive a one-course release for advising the student news site, NCC Linked/The Chronicle. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, and ongoing scholarship.
