Lead Staff - After School Enrichment Program

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. After-School Enrichment and Mini-Day Camp Programs
2. Be responsible and punctual to the assigned schedule.
3. Communicate any changes in the program/activity schedule to the supervisor.
4. Coordinate room use with the supervisor as needed.
5. Exemplify professional attire, attitude, and conduct with staff, members, and the public.
6. Drive the Y van to transport children from the schools to the Y location.
7. Address participant and parent/guardian's needs and concerns professionally and promptly.
8. Communicate participants' and parents/guardians' needs/concerns to the program coordinator and/or program director.
9. Daily attendance is taken, and records are kept. Rosters are up-to-date and accurate.
10. Interpret and abide by association policies and procedures.
11. Additional responsibilities when assigned.

AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PLANNING & MANAGEMENT

• Ensure the safety of all children at all times. Children must be within eyesight of their counselor at all times. Children are never to be left alone or unattended. All children must be accounted for at all times.
• Process enrollments and registrations for the After School Enrichment and Mini Day Camp Programs. Support and assist with enrollment and registration for other Youth Department programs as needed.
• Be knowledgeable and available to lead a variety of activities.
• Train and orient new counselors
• Organize and manage homework room and homework assistants, including youth volunteers (SLOP)
• Assure that all After Enrichment meet YMCA's goals and objectives.
• Organize and implement programs with staff and/or volunteer assistance.
• Keep all supplies and equipment in good working condition.
• Request supplies and equipment as needed from the supervisor.
• Oversight for the smooth running and continuity of the program.
• Maintain appropriate coverage of staff to maintain ratios and fill in when needed.
• The carpool roster is updated daily.
• Assist with monthly billing, communicating to parents what's owed, and receiving payments.

STAFF COORDINATION & SUPERVISION

Assure all staff:

• Are appropriately dressed and identifiable.
• Follow through on assignments and tasks.
• Are in assigned areas for proper coverage.
• Are maintaining appropriate and professional relationships with one another and with program participants.

EQUIPMENT & FACILITY

• Organize and maintain a clean program area.
• Inventory all equipment and supplies.
• Ensure all equipment is clean, safe, and in good working condition.
• Assure all equipment and supplies are repaired or replaced promptly.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS

• Assure all information & communication pieces meet YMCA standards.
• Be visible and accessible to questions at all times.
• Establish positive and professional relationships with staff, members, program participants, and parents.

• CPR & First Aid certifications must be current.
• Child Abuse and Safety Training must be completed and kept up-to-date.
• Y Staff should be aware that all information published online is publicly accessible. You are advised to be mindful that the information you post online will likely be seen by members, parents, and program participants of the Santa Monica Family YMCA community and could reflect poorly on your character. Therefore, information posted online that reflects poor character values will put your job at risk.
• Y Staff may not be alone with or have contact with children they meet at the Y or enrolled in Y programs outside the Y. This includes but is not limited to babysitting, tutoring, coaching, sleepovers, riding in cars, conversing with on the phone (via spoken word or text), through Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram or other Internet sites. Staff are prohibited from engaging with youth outside the Y unless one of the following conditions exists:
• • You and the child's family or guardians have a relationship that predates your employment at the YMCA
  • You and the child's family or guardians have a relationship that predates the child's enrollment in a YMCA program
  • You and the child or the child's family or guardian are related.
