STEAM Instructor – For 2023-2024 School Year
The After School Enrichment Program is looking to hire an engaging and motivating STEAM Instructor.
ASEP is offering its students a STEAM Club for the 2023-2024. If you are someone who is committed to inspire young minds to submerge in the world of science and technology ASEP would like the opportunity to work with you!
STEAM Instructor Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work independently and communicate effectively with members of their team when needed.
- Be comfortable in working in a fast past and changing environment.
- Lead and execute activities with a club of 10-15 students from 3rd-5th graders.
**Encourage student critical thinking and observational skills**
- Build positive relationship with students, parents and ASEP team.
- Use light classroom management techniques to maintain a smooth experience for all students.
- Complete other minimal daily tasks such as:
- Follow sign-in and sign-out protocol for student rosters.
- Supervise student snack time.
- Drop students off to appropriate classrooms after club.
- Make sure students are signed out by group teacher or parents. guardians at pickup.
- Communicate, with a respectful and positive attitude, with Program Leader, Program, Managers, Parents/Guardians, Day-School Staff and other Community members.
- Use Restorative Practices approach to dealing with behavior issues.
The Ideal ASEP Club Instructor:
- Could demonstrate maturity when dealing with children and sensitive issues.
- Could keep calm and collective even during frustrating situations.
- Is organized, task orientated and meets deadlines.
- Is skillful in time management and is very punctual.
- Is flexible and can “think on their feet” to find solutions to unexpected problems.
- Is interested in investing time and effort in order to grow with the organization.
- Is interested in building positive and professional relationships with co-workers and managers.
- Has a sense of humor.
Ideal Candidates Requirements:
- Have a background in science, art, and/or education.
- Fingerprint and Department of Justice clearance.
- TB clearance
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Have at the minimum 1 year of experience working with students.
- Valid work VISA if not a USA citizen.
Work Schedule:
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 2:05pm-3:05pm (Daniel Webster Elementary/4th & 5th graders)
Wednesdays: 12:50pm-3:00pm (McKinley Elementary/3rd-5th graders)
Position will get paid an additional hour for each class for a total of ~8 hours.
Position will start ASAP.
Pay Rate: $27.50 per hour
This position is not a contracted position, it is an employee position.
Benefits: This position is less than 30 hours and is not eligible for benefits.
ASEP Mission Statement
ASEP's mission is to provide the community with equal access to quality after school enrichment programming. ASEP combines the core values of Arts Enrichment, Academic Support and Health and Wellness into a comprehensive and specialized educational experience. We serve over 450 San Francisco youth in grades kindergarten through 5th grade during after school and summer time programming. Through a mixed funding model, 250 at-risk or underserved students attend our program completely free. Today we are hiring for a person to teach our weekly basketball class and we are looking for interested applicants to apply today.
