Description

The Lead Program Facilitator is responsible for implementing and adapting the Enhanced Health and Wellness: life skills enrichment activity for elementary school girls in our after-school programming daily. Lead Program Facilitators lead  Life Skills Enrichment (LSE) instruction using the available support and resources provided by Girls Inc. of Greater Miami, as well as leading staff and students during other enrichment activities.

LSE will be “hands-on, minds-on” to engage girls in life skills training. Activities and discussions are designed to increase knowledge, strengthen self-confidence, cultivate communication and foster trusting, productive relationships among students and between students and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Commit to consistently and reliably facilitating programming at the school site daily during the after-school time;
  • Use Girls Inc. resources to develop LSE according to the guidelines and delivery schedule;
  • Prepare for and facilitate LSE, both independently and with other staff, interns and/or volunteers;
  • Implement classroom management best practices as communicated in training;
  • Attend and actively participate in professional learning and development opportunities, including but not limited to monthly facilitator workshops, reflection opportunities, and weekly check-ins
  • Maintain relationships and communication with girls and their families and provide individual support ensuring their ability to effectively engage in the program;
  • Oversee the successful collection of data, including but not limited to daily attendance and The Children’s Trust requirements;
  • Serve as the leader of the school site team and direct staff and volunteers accordingly and in a professional, respectful manner;
  • Support with planning and implementation of special events/projects in conjunction with site team and other staff from Girls Inc. of Greater Miami;

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’ Degree or higher; 
  • Must have at least two years of work experience with children, including those with disabilities, in a large group setting (i.e school, after school program, etc.)
  • Trained or certified in life skills or Mental Health and willing to engage in ongoing training;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, with a focus on girls;
  • Committed to working with youth from a variety of demographics and communities and possess a high level of competency in cultural, linguistic, familial, ability, etc. diversity;
  • Must be punctual, prepared, have a positive attitude and adept at using a variety of lively program techniques (brainstorming, role-playing, etc.);
  • Must be self-directed, detail-oriented with proven written and oral communication skills; 
  • Must have group facilitation skills and a commitment to developing  classroom management skills;
  • Must be a high-energy, caring, self-starter, innovative; 
  • Organized and able to effectively maintain information for planning and recording keeping purposes;
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and willingness to learn Girls Inc. specific databases;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate effectively and work collaboratively with youth, families and professionals;
  • Must have a valid driver license, reliable and consistent transportation and the ability to work and travel daily, between our offices in Downtown Miami and our school site in Miami Gardens
