MAJOR FUNCTION: The Commercial Vehicle Driving Full-time Instructor is a position housed at the Transportation and Logistics Center of Excellence near TCC's main campus. The Instructor's major function is to collaboratively lead the Commercial Vehicle Driving Program, creating an ideal learning environment, maintaining an appropriate balance of discipline, and be able to transfer knowledge to students, while staying abreast of evolving regulations within the industry. Provide a teaching environment (lecture, group, or Individual) targeting a diverse population resulting in the earning of a state issued Class 'A' License. Educate and train students to gain skills to effectively allow students to meet their goals related to student performance, as well as meet their objectives of having a career in commercial driving. This includes, but not limited to the following:
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or its equivalent, possess a current state issued Class 'A' License and prior history of providing Commercial Vehicle Driving training. Must have five years of full-time tractor-trailer truck driving experience, with at least one of the five years being within the last 24 months (Commercial Vehicle Driving training instruction may substitute for years of experience). CDL holders with endorsements are preferred. Must be considered insurable. .
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of Academic development. CDL training. Careers in Commercial Vehicle Driving. Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of field and/or discipline. Organizational and interpersonal skills to lead and facilitate partnership activities with students, community groups, consortia, and colleagues within the college. Effective team member, flexible, with strong human relations skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Be self-motivated, self-directed and creative. Skilled in the use of a personal computer, use of the Microsoft Suite, and using the World Wide Web for word processing and information gathering. Develop and implement strategies to market and promote the Commercial Vehicle Driving Program. Coordinate the delivery of adult education program instruction. Design instruction to achieve student learning outcomes as defined by the college and specific departments and programs. Conduct class meetings with professionalism and enthusiasm that promotes respect for the discipline and education. Use appropriate technologies and media to enhance learning. Maintain confidentiality of student records according to FERPA guidelines. Maintain necessary educational credentials and professional skills appropriate to the teaching assignment.

- Provide administrative support for course logistics (e.g., scheduling, curriculum development) and oversight of student support services (e.g., advisement, orientation, job placement).
- Serve as a liaison for the College to the Bureau of Commercial Vehicle & Driver Services to ensure all required processes, regulations and certifications are maintained for a Third-Party Administrator.
- Assist, when needed in the recruitment of students and marketing of the program, identifying community partnership and funding opportunities.
- Coordinate maintenance of truck and trailer records, scheduling maintenance, and maintaining vehicle registrations.
