Hog Slat, Inc. is seeking aLead Machine Die Setup to join the 1st Shift team in our Manufacturing Department in Newton Grove, NC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as business conditions change.
- Keep all machines running or ready to run at all times.
- Know your next set-up completely until the material to be processed is at machine and the operator is shown how to run the part correctly.
- Keep all unused units and cut blocks in the maintenance shop ready for use with sharp punches and die buttons in them or empty ready to be built.
- Keep set-up boards clean and set screws in bolt holes that are not being used.
- Keep a check on set-ups at least once an hour to make sure it is correct.
- Keep tool box neat and orderly so it is easy to find tools needed.
- Keep patterns picked up and put in a place easy for all shifts to find
- Adhere to all safety procedures
- Take inventory every week and turn it into supervisor
- Put up punch and die buttons returned from tool and die shop daily
- Take units apart that have been returned from the cutting department. Remove punch sleeve and clean unit and put on the shelf in its proper place. Take sleeve and insert a new oblong punch and try it both directions to see if the sleeve needs reworked. If the sleeve is beyond repair throw it in a scrap bin and write it down on inventory sheet to be replaced
- Check unit pins that hold die buttons in place to make sure that the pin is not damaged and the setscrew is tight
- Check pin that keeps the sleeve from turning is not damaged and that the set screw is tight
- Check tool room to see if any orders have come in on UPS and put up on shelves in proper place
- Any damaged punches, die buttons or units have to be reported to supervisor, with an explanation on how the punch, die button or unit got damages. This is so that we can take steps to keep it from happening again
- Check with supervisor to get a list of parts to be produced that day, so that the units can be set up and ready to go to the cutting department to be set up on machines. Put setups together and mark with part number so that the set-up man will know which units go together
- At the end of the day, check cutting department for any units not in use and return then to the punch room
- Keep all the unit stop in the punch room unless in use on a machine. When a stop goes to a machine, put a tag on a peg to tell what machine it is on
The IDEAL CANDIDATE will have the following experience/educational background:
- Knowledge of Uni-Punch tooling
- Knowledge of clearances for different thickness and types of materials
- Knowledge setting up tooling on machines by drawing
- Knowledge adjusting machine heights as needed per set up
- Knowledge managing inventory on tooling
- Machinist, tool and die experience considered a plus
