Lead Developer- Progress OpenEdge
FLEETCOR is currently looking to hire a seasoned Lead Developer with a passion for Progress OpenEdge. As a Lead Developer, you will play a pivotal role in spearheading a software development team’s effort. Your mission will involve design & development of backend and GUI processes that power a segment within our credit card business. Your collaborative mindset, leadership acumen, and innovative problem-solving skills will be crucial in driving initiatives in this area. This position is within the North America Fuel Cards vertical of FleetCor IT.
How We Work
As a Lead Developer you will be expected to work in a remote environment. FLEETCOR will set you up for success by providing:
- Assigned in home & office set up
- Company-issued equipment + remote access
- Collaborating with various stakeholders within IT, Product, Operations and Account Management
- Designing & Developing backend and frontend processes utilizing Progress OpenEdge and Progress RDBMS
- Developing and maintain integrations between backend systems of differing tech stack
- Developing services to support external facing APIs
- Infusing creativity into tackling intricate challenges, offering fresh perspectives on existing solutions.
- Effortlessly navigating multiple projects in an Agile framework, managing concurrent projects to meet milestones.
- Deconstructing requirements and user stories to craft technical end-user content encompassing software installation/upgrades, configuration, data migration, application integration, and interaction with third-party systems.
- Conducting code reviews, offer recommendations, highlight technical discrepancies, and validate end-user requirements’ alignment with product functionality.
- Leading technical discussions, collaborate with other technologists, architects and infrastructure experts
- Organizing troubleshooting discussions, code fixes and rapid response to production issues
- Proactively identifying system improvement opportunities, embrace a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent hands-on experience
- Six+ years of hands-on experience in software design & development using Progress 4GL or similar
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming, extensive expertise in Progress RDBMS and Progress 4GL programming.
- Comprehensive grasp of Progress OpenEdge development, web programming, SQL queries, Progress OpenEdge Architect
- Possesses advanced technical and analytical skills required to diagnose, isolate and resolve problems
- Familiarity with Linux and Unix OS, Progress database administration
- Possess effective communication and presentation prowess, complemented by the ability to draft functional specifications tailored to user demands.
- Emanate leadership capabilities, empowering fellow programmers while excelling within cross-functional teams and autonomously as a developer. Act as a go-to resource for peers with less experience.
- Thrive in a high-velocity, demanding work setting, deftly juggling multiple projects and meeting deadlines under priority-driven project management.
- Familiarity with AWS Cloud technologies, OpenShift.
