Responsibilities:
The Lead – Body & Vehicle Controls Release Engineerwill develop the requirements and manage the Tier 1 suppliers for the Body, Vehicle, and Gateway controls including doors, lights, windows, gear state, cybersecurity and many other features listed in the Program Description Letter.
This Engineer will report to the Head of Electrical and will be responsible for driving the development of the body controller requirements for all of the Re:Car battery electric vehicles. The Engineer will be challenged to develop unique solutions for various control problems for the Body & Vehicle Control Domain including (BCM) - The Body Control Module, (VCU) - Vehicle Control Module, (IPC) - Instrument Panel Cluster, and the (GWM) - The Gateway Module. Responsibilities will be broad in scope and complex requiring creativity, superior initiative, good judgement, and leadership skills. This is a hands-on position that will also require leadership of Tier 1 suppliers.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Develop functional requirements for each module including interfaces, diagnostics, and fault detection protocol.
    • (BCM) - The Body Control Module
    • (VCU) - Vehicle Control Module
    • (IPC) - Instrument Panel Cluster
    • (GWM) - The Gateway Module
  • Develop and document test plans for the required control modules.
  • Release the control module(s) Part Numbers in the Product Lifecycle Management system and maintain release levels as the design matures.
  • Lead DFMEA reviews to identify technical risks and drive the controls logic in order to improve detection and reduce potential failures of the design
  • Review hardware design with cross functional teams to ensure the hardware meets requirements.
  • Train technicians and troubleshooters on the theory of operations and controls logic behind each sub-system and component
  • Work with HIL/SIL Validation Engineers to develop test plans to ensure the design meets program requirements. Iterate as issues are uncovered.
  • Implement and maintain cyber-security best practices to ensure robust customer and corporation protection over the lifecycle
  • Utilize LEAN Engineering methodologies throughout
