We are currently seeking a reliable and detail oriented Land Survey Field Assistant (Chainperson). You will assist in conducting boundary and topographic surveys and construction staking using various technical surveying equipment. You will work closely with the survey crew chief and other team members to ensure that surveying projects are completed efficiently and accurately.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting Land Surveys and construction staking by collecting accurate measurements using robotic total stations, GPS systems, laser scanners and drones
- Set up and maintain survey equipment
- Help in marking reference points and establishing lines and grades
- Perform physical tasks such as carrying equipment, digging holes, hammering stakes and hubs into the ground, and clearing brush as needed
- Record data and prepare sketches, maps, and reports for use by surveyors and other professionals
- Follow safety procedures and ensure that all surveying activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner
- Communicate effectively with survey crew chief and other team members to ensure that surveying projects are completed on time and within budget
- Maintains survey equipment and keep survey truck stocked with necessary tools and supplies
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college-level coursework in surveying or related field preferred
- Graduate of a qualified Land Surveying apprenticeship program preferred
- Previous experience as a Land Surveying assistant preferred but not required
- Knowledge of surveying equipment and techniques (Trimble)
- Ability to perform physical tasks and work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift minimum 50 lbs, stand for 8-10 hours per day
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
