Laboratory Assistant/Tech, Food Science

MetaBrand is a profitable, rapidly growing, and expanding manufacturing company located in Edison, NJ. More specifically, our space in the market is as a beverage development company that creates and produces sports drinks, natural beverages along with alcohol-based canned cocktails, CBD-infused drinks, and other emerging beverages.

We are actively looking to add a lab assistant to our laboratory team. This role will report directly into our Director of Product Development and will be an integral addition to our team.

Job description:

• This role is responsible for supporting the Innovation Lab in various tasks, such as formulation support, sample preparation, ingredient request, sensory analysis, sample analysis pH, Brix, SG, D, TA & ABV check, maintain/Produce detailed and accurate Lab and formulation reports, sample shipments.
• Maintaining lab ingredient inventory levels and ensuring cleanliness.
• Documenting formulas, processes, and ingredient requirements and obtaining suppliers' documentation. The candidate should also follow up with suppliers on quality issues and produce samples based on formulas developed by food scientists for sales samples and processing standards.
• Assisting food scientists in developing and preparing bases, performing fundamental lab analyses, and ensuring strict hygiene and food safety standards are met. Analytical testing and examining samples are also part of the job.
• Fulfilling supplier sample requests to make samples for customers, preparing sample shipments to the client, and performing other related tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a lab
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• The candidate must be detail-oriented, able to muti-task, and have effective time-management and problem-solving skills.
• Solid math skills are required, including working accurately with formulas and decimals.
• Previous experience in compounding and weighing with high accuracy and attention to detail is required.
• The candidate should be physically fit to perform tasks such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods, etc.
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
