Lab Technician I

We are looking for a Lab Technician Ito join our team in Omaha, Nebraska!
This is a great entry level opportunity to begin or expand your career in science by providing assistance to our internal partners in a lab setting. As the Lab Technician I, reporting to a Chemist, you will perform analytical chemistry laboratory test preparation activities and analyses to provide useful, accurate technical information to necessary personnel.
Located along the Missouri River, our Omaha office is within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. Join us for yoga or strength training classes offered at the onsite fitness center. Conagra's R&D facilities in Omaha are state-of-the-art, including a large super lab, open benchtop space for prototype development, a top-of-the-line culinary kitchen, and a 50,000 square foot pilot plant.
Position Responsibilities:

• Follow laboratory management system policies and procedures, and laboratory safety policies and procedures.
• Receive and prepare incoming samples for analysis and laboratory supplies and equipment.
• Receive laboratory supplies and equipment; distribute to laboratory staff members.
• Collect, clean and distribute glassware for laboratory staff.
• Perform daily temperature verification of refrigerators, and freezers and other lab equipment.
• Maintain stock of supplies; communicate needs to purchasing agent.
• May perform laboratory administration tasks: log samples into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), purchasing, document inventory and use of reference standards, etc.
• Assist senior laboratory staff with extraction, digestion and other sample preparation for complex analyses.
• Follow written procedures to perform analytical testing on laboratory samples.
• Maintain records of all test work in laboratory notebooks; input and extract information to worksheets and instrument computers.
• Perform routine maintenance on lab equipment.
• Maintain clean work area.

Position Requirements:

• Associate degree or certificate from a college or technical school preferred. HS/GED required.
• Perform test methods and technical procedures.
• Write reports, business correspondence, and technical procedures.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel (performing complex functions).

Physical Requirements:

• Stand for up to 8 hours a day.
• Use laboratory equipment - ovens, balances, furnaces, blenders, centrifuges.
• Lift reagent containers. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. periodically.
• Push/pull laboratory carts.
• Work with solvents/acids/bases in fume hoods.
• Work in office environment -filing/record keeping/computer use.
• Work in cold rooms/freezers.
• Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended workdays to include loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions.
• Exposure to food tasting and smells including all food allergens.

We require applicants for this role to be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship either now or in the future.
Number of Days in Office: 5. Hours are typically 8am to 4:30pm or 9am to 5:30pm Central.
