As a Diagnostic Molecular Lab Technician, you will:
  • Provide accurate and timely test results for diagnosis of foreign animal diseases by performing a variety of skilled lab testing on specimens submitted to the Nebraska Veterinary Diagnostic Center ( NVDC ) under limited supervision.
  • Prepare samples, perform polymerase chain reaction extraction, PCR reaction, and other molecular diagnostic testing.
  • Perform anlaysis, make diagnosis, and prepare final reports for veterinarians and pathologists.
  • Complete and maintain proficiency certification tests required by the National Animal Health Laboratory Network ( NAHLN ) to a satisfactory manner.
  • Maintain compliance with NVDC quality assurance and quality control and a variety of national standards ( AAVLD , NDHS , CDC , USDA , etc).

Irregular hours may be required in situations of animal epidemic outbreaks and required turnaround times.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or related field plus one year of laboratory experience. Additional relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Experience with skilled laboratory and quality control procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of laboratory experience. Experience performing molecular diagnostic testing.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances. No
