JOB SUMMARY:
The Lab Technician is responsible for testing all incoming raw materials to manufacturing standards, manufacturing specifications, and technical requirements. This position also assists with in-process testing as determined by management and finish cable testing on all customer orders based on customer specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspection and testing of incoming raw materials.
- In-process testing for process control of machines and materials.
- Preparation and control of inspection sheets and data that is needed for customer's CTRs.
- Finish cable testing for customer's CTRs.
- Implementation and control Material Hold Notification.
- Computer literacy for input and output of lab data and reports.
- Control of certified test reports from vendors.
- Participate in customer inspections and visits.
- Work with and develop SPC programs.
- Interface with other manufacturing and technical functions.
- Document control of technical requirements.
- Good understanding of scheduling, testing and shipping needs.
- A desire for continuous improvement.
- Enforcement/ comply with safety/ environmental policies.
- Assist in secondary calibration program.
- Interpret specifications.
- Use and understand mechanical and electric testing equipment.
- Assist manufacturing engineering when requested.
- Perform plant level calibration (i.e. lab oven, micrometers, etc.)
- Provide failure analysis as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient with MS Office software
- Good housekeeping practices
- Good communication skills - both verbal and written
- 10-Key Data Entry and Typing
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High School graduate.
- Previous lab and/or manufacturing experience preferred.
- 2 - 3 years clerical experience.
