Laboratory Associate, Media Development and Services | Seattle, WA |
Just is seeking a motivated and hardworking team member with a passion to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. The successful candidate will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team whose main goal is to support and supply cell culture media and buffers to process development labs. Additionally, this position will include cleaning, organizing, equipment maintenance and inventory tasks, so relevant experience is necessary. The ability to perform basic tasks on a computer is required, as is willingness to learn new software tools. The ideal candidate is curious, creative, engaged, works well independently but can collaborate effectively, and proactively seeks out solutions to improve laboratory efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare media and buffers to support cell culture experiments and other lab activities under the supervision of a Lab Manager
- Support troubleshooting efforts to identify and correct deviations in media preparations
- Support scientists with media and buffer investigations
- Regularly inventory lab supplies and support chemical inventory efforts
- Assist in ordering lab supplies
- Support efforts to increase lab productivity and efficiency
- Regularly clean and maintain lab and lab equipment
- Support other groups with solution preparation and lab maintenance activities as time allows
- Autoclave solution and cell culture assemblies as needed
- Other tasks as assigned
Required qualifications:
- High School diploma with five years of relevant laboratory experience
- Organizational skills
- Motivated
- Foundational chemistry knowledge, including pH, osmolarity, and calculations for creating chemical solutions
- Attention to detail, including scientific observations
- Experience with Microsoft Office or Google Drive Suite applications
- Fluent in English
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
Preferred qualifications:
- Associate degree with two years of relevant laboratory experience or an entry level Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field
- Experience cleaning and maintaining science equipment
- Familiarity with preparing cell culture media and buffers
- Experience with improving lab efficiency, such as lean 6-sigma training
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize work
The base pay range for this non-exempt position at commencement of employment is expected to be $25 to $35/hour; Base salary offered may vary depending on individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value.
