Title:Postdoctoral Research Associate - Bioengineering, Prof. Princess Imoukuede Lab

Position Details

Position Description

The hired Postdoc will be responsible for developing computational models of cell surface receptor signaling and trafficking, developing hypotheses and research plans for the computational models, and designing and implementing research protocols, procedures, methods, or instrumentation relevant to the research. Additionally, the hired Postdoc will be expected to perform regular scientific literature searches and remain up to date on the current scientific literature; attend research seminars, workshops, and conferences; review scientific manuscripts; develop and publish figures, tables, presentations, and manuscripts; and assist with assist in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students.

This is a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position on an annual, 12-month appointment with an anticipated start date of March 1, 2024. Postdoctoral Research are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement, unless agreed exclusion criteria apply. The base salary range for this position will be $5,705 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

International Applicants: Visa sponsorship will be reviewed on a case-by-case bases. Relocation costs are not included.

Qualifications

The hired Postdoc must have earned a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in a quantitative field, such as Computational Systems Biology, Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Chemical Engineering, or a related area before the date of joining and have at least 2-3 years of experience utilizing the following skillsets:

  • Systems Biology Knowledge: A basic understanding of biological systems, including genetics, molecular biology, and cellular processes.
  • Biological Data Interpretation: Ability to interpret and analyze various types of biological data, such as genomic or proteomic data.
  • Statistical Analysis: Strong grasp of statistical methods and tools for analyzing complex biological data.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, MATLAB (e.g., SimBiology), or others relevant to biological data analysis.
  • Modeling Techniques: Knowledge of computational modeling techniques such as Differential Equations Modeling, Agent-Based Modeling, and Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) Modeling.
