JOB TITLE: Junior Staff Accountant

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (In person)
HOURLY PAY:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Junior Staff Accountant will provide support to the accounting team in processing payroll, daily cash processing for the Recycle Yard and company bank transactions, daily SoftPak posting, assisting with the accounts payable process and other tasks as needed.
A TYPICAL DAY: Each day will expose you to different aspects of accounting (payroll, cash posting, accounts payable, etc.) based on priorities and deadlines. You may start by preparing cash for business transactions, then jump over to verifying employee timecard exceptions. Later in the day, you might work with scanning documents, and posting transactions. This is an hourly full-time position working Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes but are not limited to the following:
- Ensure the efficient operation of MarBorg’s biweekly payroll process in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner.
- Review manual timesheets ensuring completeness, accuracy, and integrity of payroll records.
- Run payroll reports for timecard exceptions and benefit pay.
- Review driver logs for compliance.
- Sort payroll checks for distribution.
- Data entry of buyback and health insurance checks.
- Prepare and monitor daily cash for recycling yard and office petty cash.
- Cross train to serve as backup for accounts payable, recording bank transactions in general ledger, and posting payments to customer accounts.
- Reconcile, analyze, and prepare schedules for assigned balance sheet ledger accounts.
- Provide resolution and respond to inquiries and requests from internal and external entities.
- Promote open communication channels intra/interdepartmentally.
- Work courteously and cooperatively with fellow employees, customers, vendors, consultants, and the general public.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Intermediate level and ability to learn computer and accounting systems skills (MicroSoft Office, Microsoft Dynamics GP, Acumatica, ADP Payroll).

EDUCATION:
B.A., or B.S. degree in accounting or related business field with one to two years in related experience. Over three years’ experience of progressive accounting experience may substitute for a degree.
