Summary of the Position
Family Service Association is seeking a Junior Accountant to join our team. The Junior Accountant will report directly to the Controller and will be responsible for assisting with the accounting
functions, including performing monthly revenue recognition, assisting with accounts payable, preparing financial statements, reviewing and reconciling various balance sheet accounts, posting
journal entries, and maintaining fixed assets.
Key Responsibilities of Position

• Perform monthly revenue recognition.
• Assist with accounts payable.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements.
• Review and reconcile various assigned balance sheet accounts.
• Review, research, and process journals for corrections, and other transactions such as reclassifications.
• Participate in the production of year-end audit schedules.
• Post journal entries for accrued expenses.
• Work closely with Billing Coordinators to ensure proper recording of billings in the M.I.P. Fund Accounting System.
• Maintain and record fixed assets.
• Perform other duties, as assigned, to meet the operating needs of the Accounting Department.

Qualifications:

• Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance, or a closely related field, or a combination of education and experience which provides the
  required knowledge and abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines
• Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Intermediate Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP's.
• Basic understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
• Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using M.I.P. Fund Accounting system is a plus but not required.
• Knowledge of non-profit billing is a plus but not required.

• Ability to Multi-Task in a high-demand and interactive environment, with high-quality results.
• Ability to work in an environment with tight deadlines and a high level of accountability.
• Willing and able to work a flexible schedule to meet operational needs

• CA Driver's License and current automobile insurance.
• DOJ Background Fingerprint Clearance
• Drug Test Clearance
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination(s).
