Seeking a Project Cost Estimator for a client in Pomona California
The Cost Estimating Engineer will develop detailed cost estimates for capital projects. Previous projects have included utility projects such as electricity, water or gas line. The Cost Estimating Engineer will work with the client employees at all levels from field crews and various subject matter experts up to the most senior leadership in order to consolidate, review, and address outstanding questions.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Produce Cost Estimates for large construction projects
- Prepare presentation materials for senior leadership review
- Serve as subject matter expert on project details during internal review and approval process.
- Turn the detailed scope and cost data into accurate work papers for presentation to customers and for back-up documentation.
- Distill large volumes of detailed project data into effective project summaries for review and approval by client’s senior leadership.
- Learn, develop, and improve current best practices for gathering, organizing, and reporting project scope and cost data.
- Facilitating the generation of innovative ideas for process improvements and then turning the best of these ideas into reality.
- Identify and manage the resolution of unusually complex issues which may require innovative solutions.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in cost engineering, cost control, and/or cost estimating.
- Two or more years in leading program/project in utility industry.
- Bachelors’ Degree.
- knowledge of using InEight Estimating tool
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge or experience of capital or utility construction or a regulatory environment.
- Three or more years’ experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Six Sigma Black Belt Certification, or other Project Management certification
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, and/or Engineering.
- Will need excellent communication skills with strong decision making skills and the ability to function in a large corporate environment.
