Northern Wasco County PUD is seeking a full-time exempt IT Technician II to join their team. This position is eligible for our full-time comprehensive benefits package (see benefits tab) and generous paid time off.
Flexible schedule, 4-10's Mon-Thurs.
The IT Technician II position is responsible for technical support and training and assisting end users with their day-to-day technical duties and issues.
Supervisory and/or Functional or Technical Responsibility or Oversight:
- No supervisory duties
- Plans, schedules, and organizes activities and work with multiple functions or areas outside the work area. Shares knowledge with and provides training to entry level professionals and non-exempt staff and end users.
Supervision Received:
- Works under limited supervision with guidance provided by expert/lead professional, supervisor, or manager on non-routine work assignments.

Examples of Duties
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Answer clients' inquiries via Service Desk/phone/e-mail or in-person concerning the use of telecom operating systems, hardware and software, peripheral devices and applications. Support users in the use of wireless access and secure web conferencing.
- Assist end-users and troubleshoot problems in a timely manner.
- Creates knowledge-based articles in the designated help desk system and documents the known issues and their resolution(s).
- Configure, install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain enterprise workstations, laptops, tablets, smart phones, multifunction printers and other peripheral devices. Modify and fine tune workstation operating systems to obtain compatibility with peripheral hardware and application software. Connect workstations to the enterprise network. Provide desk side end user training.
- Processing software and hardware support requests by coordinating user setups, installations, and upgrades.
- Configuration and resetting of network access accounts whenever required.
- Installation of new hardware and software
- Perform routine optimization of software configuration. Grant permission to Network Resources.
- Connect devices to the LAN and wireless network. Troubleshoots and isolates connectivity issues to the port level to pass on to IT Supervisor.
- Provide customer training on technology devices and software as required.
- Maintain call tickets using the designated system.
- Write and maintain procedures.
- Assist with security patch maintenance

Secondary Functions:
- Participate in troubleshooting network events to test and collect appropriate problems data under direction of the IT Supervisor.
- All PUD employees are expected to work outside of normal business hours when required during emergency restoration activities and to accomplish other special projects. (This statement stays on all job descriptions).
Typical Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Recommended Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications): Other combinations of education and/or experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to do the work will also be considered.
Education/Experience:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Three (3) years of progressive experience in installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
- Knowledge of technology and networking topics including end user support, compute and storage, and infrastructure support.
Preferred:
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Information Systems from an accredited college, which includes course work in computer concepts, technical writing, software tools, workstation environment.
- Four (4) years of progressive experience in installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners. Knowledge of technology and networking topics including end user support, storage and compute, and infrastructure support.
PLEASE NOTE: This position requires the use of various tools/equipment that are related to performing the essential functions of this job.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, PC hardware, storage devices and peripherals, Microsoft Office Software.
- Working knowledge of industry standard security practices and specific knowledge pertaining to desktop and application security.
- Working knowledge of PC networking
- Able to perform problem analysis when troubleshooting workstation hardware or software problems, using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve workstation and application problems.
- Ability to write accurate and clear procedures.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage daily tasks and projects appropriately.
- Possess problem solving skills to identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- MS Access skills preferred
- Effective communication, both oral and written. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse user group with varied needs and levels of expertise in the use of technology.

- Ability to adjust readily to shifting priorities, work under pressure, and manage change and stressful situations effectively and positively.
- Able to perform software application administration functions and learn a variety of tools.
