IT Support Technician and Mail Processor Job Description.
This is an in-office hourly position reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer that will be responsible for: (1) providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software and determining and implementing solutions for the organization at all locations and local remote employees’ homes and (2) the efficient processing of the organization’s incoming and outgoing mail on a daily basis.
General Job Responsibilities
IT Support Technician: Provide excellent customer service to internal customers in person, over the phone, via email, or through the use of a support ticketing system.
- Provides, installs, configures, and maintains computers and mobile devices. Installs and configures PC workstations, laptops, tablet PCs printers/faxes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve computer hardware, software, network, and Internet issues.
- Prioritize and escalate unresolved issues as required to the appropriate IT Team members or vendor support.
- Create, configure, update, and delete network user accounts.
- Maintain documentation of procedures, issues, and resolutions.
- Assists in training new employees on designated equipment and software to the level required for optimum job performance and provides refresher training for existing employees as needed.
- Works with designated vendors and internal customers to complete IT-related projects.
- Ensures the correct installation and operation of the Firm’s Phone System
- Manages the Firm’s computer and phone inventory.
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
Mail Processing: Properly process all incoming and outgoing mail in a timely, effective manner.
- Sorts and delivers incoming mail by department and/or employee to ensure timely distribution.
- Operates mail machines including postage meter, photocopying machine.
- Processes and weighs outgoing mail.
- Maintains records of receipt, mailing dates, and other required information.
- Replenishes postage on the postage meter as needed.
- Stocks supplies needed for the mailroom.
- Continuously seeks mail processing improvements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements/ Qualifications
- Associates Degree in related computer field required, Bachelor’s degree plus.
- Minimum of 3 years helpdesk experience preferred
- Highly self-motivated, requires minimal supervision to effectively accomplish responsibilities.
- Possesses working knowledge of help desk software.
- Proven working experience in providing help desk support.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated competency in troubleshooting computer hardware and software.
- Demonstrated competency in trouble shooting printers (local and remote).
- Knowledge of VPN setup and operation (client and server).
- Successful Network Printing and Queuing experience required.
- Capable of developing and implementing a ticket management system for time tracking and task management.
- Must have familiarity with Active Directory, Microsoft operating systems and software.
- Customer Service - Respond promptly to employee needs; respond to requests for service and assistance; meet commitments.
- Smart Phone IOS/Android (required)
- Experience with VNC or similar remote-control software preferred.
- Good interpersonal skills to effectively interact with co-workers and vendors.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Prior experience working effectively in an office environment is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires prolonged periods of standing as well as sitting at desk.
- Must be able to use hands and arms for repetitive movements, such as movement of wrists, hands, fingers while typing, installing/trouble shooting computer/printer hardware.
- May occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 50lbs. (standard for office roles).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
