Unleash Your Potential with AI Tools
Do you want to have real choices in your life like both eating and paying rent in the same month? As a member of our team, you can do even better than that! Fun fact: Everyone who works here now can afford to buy a house, raise a family, and go on vacation. You can too.
We’re looking for a person that has topped out as a Level 1 support technician with a minimum of 2 years experience and is ready to work as a Level 2 or is already working at that level. You’re probably underpaid now, we’ll fix that. You need to be comfortable using AI tools without being entirely dependent on them.
Cover Letter - We anticipate that you’ll likely use ChatGPT to write your cover letter and we’ll be looking closely to see if you were skillful at that… or not. Bonus points awarded if you write it yourself.
Degrees - While we don’t require college degrees or specific certifications, we do value them and they will be considered in the hiring process.
The hours - are Monday through Friday 8-5 and there is very little call for overtime, after hours and weekend work is not common. There is no “On Call” rotation. We’re flexible with work hours so if you need to get something done during the week it’s not a big deal to get time off and you can make it up or take PTO. We value our personal time as well as yours.
WFH – Almost everyone wants to. Those of us who want to, do WFH part of the time and you’ll have that opportunity too after your training is complete.
Office – We have a nice one located in Oregon City close to great food options with free parking and no safety concerns within the area. Initially you’ll be working there every day and those of us who WFH will rotate in to train you on our stack, procedures and processes.
Qualifications We’re Looking For:
Valid Driver License
M365 Administration
Windows Operating Systems
Windows AD and GPO Management
VMware and Hyper-V Administration
Networking: Protocols, Tools, Diagnosis, IP Subnetting, VPNs, DNS
Backup Solutions – Veeam, Cloud Storage, DR
Scripting Languages – PowerShell or Bash for task automation
Hardware – Ability to diagnose and repair PCs, Servers, Laptops
Soft Skills – Patience and Empathy for Customers
Willingness – to collaborate and share knowledge with colleagues and follow procedures and instructions
Use of AI – We encourage the appropriate use of AI and we pay for premium access to these tools. If you don’t already know how to do the work then this isn’t a solution for you, so please don’t just try to wing it with v3.5. It won’t work.
Pay – That’s the part you really care about, right? You can start at $30.00/hour. Any travel that requires the use of your personal automobile will be reimbursed at the Federal rate which is currently $.67/mile. In addition, once you’ve passed your probationary period you’ll be given a gas card which you’re allowed to use for all business and personal use “within reason”. That means we pay for your gas twice for business use and pay for at least some of your personal fuel. You won’t have any gas expense for your commute. There are also 6 days a year PTO. Pay increases will come regularly and you won’t have to ask for them. There is no pay stagnation. If you are kept employed here, you will get pay increases that exceed the inflation rate.
Location – Our physical nexus is in Oregon City, Oregon. You’ll need to live within a reasonable commuting distance from there so that you can come into the office when you need to without a bunch of whining about it.
The Work – Initially phone support using RMM tools, the usual MSP stuff. Fixing Outlook, VPNs, creating and deleting users, setting up new computers. There’s also fieldwork, installing new computers mainly. As you grow with us you’ll be encouraged to develop your own interests and specialties.
The Hiring Process:
- Phone Call – We’ll text you to arrange a time, then call you.
- Skills Assessment – We’ll email you a test that you’ll probably not like doing very much and that ChatGPT will be of no use as all the questions are scenario based. We won’t be asking for any work product, just asking how you’d solve certain problems. This is crucial.
- In-Person Interview – You’ll meet with representatives of our executive team.
- Final Interview – If you’ve made it this far, we are considering making you an offer and want you to meet the whole team so they can get a sense of you and see if they feel it’s worth the effort to train you. They are super nice people and we’re careful who we inflict on them.
Instructions to Apply – Send us your resume digitally in PDF and Plain Text format with a cover letter of some sort that indicates you read this job posting. Perhaps mention bears. Up to you.
