The Role
QuidelOrtho is looking for an IT Risk and Controls Analyst Intern that wants to spend their 2024 summer working towards our mission: Changing Lives, One Test at a Time. Interns will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop their skills all while contributing to key company projects and initiatives. Our team will help students apply their educational background and broaden their knowledge base within their role and learn more about working in the medical device/biotech industry. Interns will work with a mentor(s) on a guided and impactful project and will be able to collaborate with and be part of a supportive and dedicated team.
This Internship is a full-time (40 hours per week) paid program for 12-weeks.
Cohort 1: May 20th through August 12th
Cohort 2: June 17th through September 9th
This Intern will be onsite at our San Diego, CA - HQ location.
The Responsibilities
  • Interact with various teams to understand IT business processes.
  • Assist in documenting IT Governance and Risk standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in the identification, design and documentation of controls and upkeep of control matrices.
  • Assist in testing of IT General Controls, support SOC1 reviews through gathering, analyzing, and concluding on controls.
  • Support the IT risk area by entering risks into the risk register, contribute to monthly risk meetings presentation, follow up with risk owners for remediation of open risks.
  • Assist IT Control owners with remediation efforts by tracking status and reporting metrics.
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings, working sessions, etc. including taking meeting minutes, tracking decisions and action items, etc.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual
Required:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Field of Study: Accounting, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor's or Master's program in the Fall Semester 2024 at an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Able to start on either May 20th or June 17th.
  • Ability to complete a consecutive 10-12 week internship.
  • Strong interest in technology, IT audit, technology governance, technology risk, cybersecurity, or related topics.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to develop relationships with the team and across different functions.
  • Experience developing presentations, reporting, and analyzing.
  • Must have work authorization in the United States at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred:
  • Rising Senior or Graduate student at an accredited university or college.
  • Risk and security framework background such as NIST, ISO and risk methodologies.

The Work Environment
No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary range for current Freshman, rising Sophomore is 18.00/hour; Sophomore, rising Junior is 20/hour; Junior, rising senior is $23.00/hour to $26.00/hour; Senior, enrolled in school for fall 2024 is 25.00/hour to 28.00/hour; or currently enrolled Graduate, MBD, PhD program is 28.00/hour to 30.00/hour. At QuidelOrtho, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
