About this role:
Our HR Technology team is seeking a technical Program Director who can consistently lead technology projects and programs that enable Gartner’s talent strategy. As trusted technology partners to the HR organization, we propel Gartner’s success through innovation, operational excellence and exceptional user experiences in Workday and other third-party HR products, back-office integrations, and NextGen data engineering solutions.
You will lead a team of technical project managers who drive successful technology implementations, manage project schedule & budget, effectively communicate project outcomes, and consistently promote an Agile mindset. You will work closely with technology leaders to build a spirit of operational excellence, grow strategic business partnerships, and help cultivate a thriving IT organizational culture. Expertise in the HR Technology domain and with advanced technical concepts is critical to the role.
What you'll do:
Oversee successful delivery of a portfolio of HR Technology projects. Influence the scope and direction of initiatives across multiple levels of management and organizational boundaries to ensure Gartner’s strategic success. Responsible for directing multiple sub-team project plans into a cohesive whole.
Lead a staff of 3-4 Project Managers and mentor the staff in Agile/SCRUM methodologies and consistent delivery best practices.
Participate in scope definition & requirement elicitation. This may include acting as a product owner at times to transform business ideas into technical requirements that SW engineers can effectively deliver.
Plan capacity and manage budgets at a project & portfolio level.
Drive effective communication on behalf of HR Technology by connecting innovation ideas and technical delivery with business outcomes. Regularly present to executives and large audiences.
Leverage personal expertise to identify problems, root cause analysis, develop and present rational conclusions, recommendations, and direct implementation strategies/action plans.
Develop and oversee implementation of Agile/SCRUM methodologies ensuring that accepted methodologies are followed across the organization.
Evaluate project and program performance periodically with key performance indicator and develop action plans to move KPI’s to desired goals.
What you'll need:
4-year degree (Computer Science, Information Systems, or relational functional field) and/or equivalent combination of education or work experience
12+ years of experience working in technical project & program delivery.
Strong business acumen and leadership experience - proven track record of acting as a valued IT business partner to senior leadership.
Adept at Product Backlog Refinement, Risk Management, Stakeholder Management, Agile Team Building across multiple global teams, Release Management, Conflict Resolution
Strong experience with the full software development lifecycle and software development methodologies (Agile)
Excellent organizational and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
Strong ability to understand client expectations and to resolve issues that may affect delivery.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
Self-starter, with a demonstrated ability to learn beyond formal training with a strong aptitude for delivering quality products.
Preferred experience with HR business processes, Workday & other HR applications

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 134,000 USD - 184,500 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
