Position Overview:
The Dometic Internship Program is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student's field of study or career interest. Our program gives students the opportunity to collaborate with team members, to have a meaningful project that allows you to have impact, career exploration and development, to learn new skills, and get to know other interns.
1) Project Overview -

• Review Dometic warranty data received from OEM customers. Analyze data to determine if there are systemic quality and/or process issues with customers in developing warranty database.
• Review Dometic internal processes for disciplines located in Troy office. Ensure processes are being followed and identify gaps. Objective is to get Troy office IATF certified in support of manufacturing IATF certifications.

2) Project Measurables -

• Total cost of warranty to Dometic and identifying critical failure modes reveled during analysis. Report findings to engineering/manufacturing for resolution
• Complete set of process and audit of office to meet expectations of certified IATF auditor

3) Anticipated output of project (process improvement, cost reduction/elimination of waste, or increased revenue) -

• Cost savings - identify causes of warranty and solicit countermeasures from engineering and manufacturing
• Process improvement whereby all processes within the Troy office are documented and audited

This position reports to the Quality Engineer.
Main responsibilities:

• Support in analyzing the warranty claims from different OEMs and perform root cause analysis on top priority issues
• Assist in following the IATF 16949 procedures for all the documentation and ensure all the gaps were addressed
• Assist in reviewing the PPAP documents for new product launches and engineering change requests

Competencies gained:

• Ability to analyze the Warranty issues using Quality tools like 8D, 5 Why etc.
• Understand the IATF 16949 Certification process and gain experience in steps to follow to adhere to the industry standards
• Ability to review and understand PPAP documents and all the 18 elements as per AIAG guidelines

Requirements

• Actively enrolled in a college or university seeking a degree. The following programs are preferred: Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Business
• Proficiency with Excel
• Experience with Failure Mode Analysis
• Quality certifications (preferred)
• Data analysis (preferred)
