MarxOkubo is seeking Interns in either Atlanta, GA or Dallas, TX for summer 2024
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's in Architecture in progress or completion in May 2024
- Ideally experience at a company related to your field
- Proficient in Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, Plan Grid, and Box
- Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketchup skills a plus
- Technical knowledge of building design, materials, and methods
- General understanding of State and Federal codes as they apply to design and construction
- Strong ability to manage time and projects independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to present technical content to clients
- Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity
Essential Functions
With professional guidance/mentorship, you will:
- Assist in building evaluations of new construction projects (some required travel throughout the Atlanta area)
- Perform and document field observations for property/facility condition assessments of existing buildings and new construction
- Perform cost evaluations for building repairs and replacements
- Perform plan reviews for general code compliance and adequacy of design, coordination, detailing, and building materials and systems
- Assist in preparing architectural/engineering construction documents for repair of existing buildings

This Internship will be paid hourly and compensation will be commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience. Up to 40 hours per week, based on your availability.
Candidates should have the ability to:
Move through construction and existing building sites over rough terrain
See and respond to dangerous situations
Respond quickly to sounds
Ascend and descend ladders and stairs
Move safely through confined spaces and narrow paths
Work in outdoor weather conditions or unconditioned areas
Travel approximately 25-50% of the time both in and out of state
Marx|Okubo performs background checks, via an agency, on candidates that are made offers of employment or internship which includes a confirmation of education and professional certifications, review of driving record for insurance purposes, court records, and professional references. Each background check is reviewed on an individual basis for criminal and driving history violations, and any inconsistencies, to determine next steps in the recruitment process.
