Intern, Coating Technician

We are seeking a summer intern in our Budd Lake, NJ facility in our Coating department.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Organize legacy coat tooling - part numbering and revision assignment, physical storage, Agile records, organizing and standardizing existing design (SolidWorks) files
• Coating recipes - standardizing recipe naming and revision control, organizing file storage on machine, system back ups
• Inspect, final wipe, and load optics for coating per production schedule
• Preparation of optical substrates for thin film disposition
• Load parts and operate Ultrasonic Wash Line
• Maintain chambers including disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly
• Performs routine and periodic maintenance on coating chambers
• Determine if surface quality is fully compliant to a drawing or specification
• Suggest vacuum chamber troubleshooting as required

• Pursuing a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
• CAD experience preferred
• Experience in optical coating technologies preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Accurate data entry skills required
• MRP/ERP experience preferred
• Experience and understanding of LEAN principles preferred
• Manufacturing experience preferred

• Ability to work from written instructions
• Ability to successfully manage a production workload
• Ability to use a computer for production administration and data entry
• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment, fully gowned as needed
• Exposure to minimal chemicals such as, methanol and isopropanol
