Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an exempt position providing development and implementation of the St. Louis Housing Authority's (SLHA) Integrated Pest Management program by focusing on long-term prevention or suppression of pests through accurate pest identification, frequent monitoring for pest presence, by applying appropriate action levels, and by making the habitat less conducive to pests using sanitation mechanical and physical controls. Effective pesticides will be used to minimize risks to people, property, and the environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, or Pest Management; or a minimum of two years of experience in the area of Pest Management, pesticide handling, sanitation procedures or any equivalent qualifications or training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Strong knowledge of Integrated Pest Management theory and practice, including industry standards of application methods and materials used to control pests, insects, diseases, and weeds.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local EPA regulations for pesticide use and application, including continuing knowledge of associated human and environmental toxicity and exposure risks.
- Ability to prepare activity correspondence, reports, forms, programs, charts, graphs, appraisals, purchase orders, etc., according to prescribed formats.
- Skill in computer usage and other data processing systems.
- Strong written, oral, and reading communication skills to accurately obtain, interpret and record Pest Management solutions.
- Ability to be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery related to job requirements.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other SLHA employees, contractors, and public housing residents using principles of good customer service.
- Must have and maintain a current driver's license and be insurable under the Authority's automobile insurance.
