Position Summary

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Processes insurance claims reviews for errors, attachments and corrections.
  • Registers, verifies and enters patient demographic information and insurance information into billing system.
  • Answers telephone, explaining department policies for correct billing procedures to patients and insurance companies.
  • Assists outpatient representatives with pre-certifications.
  • Assists and supports functions of ambulatory patient scheduling system.
  • Assists clerical and administrative support during peak times, vacations/illnesses.
  • Assists with opening and distributing mail to staff.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability with general office equipment, telephone console and computers.
  • Working organization and communication skills that require discretion with confidential information.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
  • One year of related experience in bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical office setting.

Salary Range

$15.91 - $21.24 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
