Responsibilities

This position primarily provides support for staffing the Special Collections & Archives reference desks at Strozier Library and the Claude Pepper Library, and also the Heritage Museum in FSU’s historic Dodd Hall. Responsibilities of the Special Collections & Archives Assistant include:

• Provide assistance to library and museum visitors.
• Maintain visitor statistics and some division collections statistics.
• Assist with data entry in the division's finding aid database.
• Create content for Special Collections & Archives social media accounts.
• Assist with exhibits and events as needed.
• Scanning materials for remote research.
• Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed depending on current projects within the division.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency.

Preferred Qualifications

Comfortable answering questions and communicating with the public.
Detail oriented with strong communication skills.
Willingness to learn new technologies and tools.
Comfortable using Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel) or Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets).

Anticipated Salary Range

$13/hour

Special Collections & Archives operating hours Summer: 10-15 hours/week/Monday - Friday 10-5; Fall: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 10:00 am-5:00 pm, Wednesday 10:00 am-7:00 pm, Friday 10: am-5:00 pm
