Job Description
General Summary
The Instructional Designer (ID) I serves as integral part of the Integrated Product Team (IPT), conducting the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases to develop Computer-Based Training (CBT) materials using commercial off-the-shelf and/or company-created software tools. The ID provides expertise to design and develop CBT or conduct technical training in accordance with contractual specifications, standards, and instructions.
Salary Range: $22.81/hr- $30.41/hr
Essential Job Functions
- Use commercial off-the-shelf and company developed authoring systems to create Interactive Courseware (ICW) and Instructor Led Training (ILT) materials
- Write text, gather graphics and assemble other onscreen elements to create clear and concise instructionally sound onscreen presentations of information in accordance with the prescribed guidance for the specific project.
- Work with a team of Courseware Developers (CWD), Subject Matter Experts (SME), Graphic Specialist (GS), and other IDs to analyze, design and develop training courses and CBT products.
- Advise SMEs and CWDs on the Instructional Systems Design (ISO) principles used to analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate technical training materials from source data according to required standards and conventions for the project.
- Using SME and CWD provided inputs, analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate instructional materials including needs analysis, target audience analysis, job/task analysis, learning objectives, learning measures, learning strategies, flow diagrams, lesson specifications, and storyboard.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance Professionals (QAPro) to ensure the produced training materials are instructionally sound.
- Provide expertise in ISO by assisting and advising training development and support personnel.
- Review and verify the instructional design through the development process and provide ISO training to the training development team.
- Develop instructional materials in accordance with company and customer curriculum development standards and conventions.
- Must be aware of International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) restrictions on export of military hardware and training services.
- Responsible for the safe handling of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) and
- Government Furnished Information (GFI).
- Attend training conferences, In-Process Reviews (IPRs), and other required meetings.
- May be required to work occasionally outside of normal hours due to travel, availability of training equipment, time- shared work benches or aircraft, as specified by the contract.
- Work a standard weekly schedule of 40 hours with overtime as required.

Job Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Capable with networked computers (word processing, graphics, spread sheet, data base, and desktop publishing applications), scanners, printers, copiers, E-mail and internet browsers, FAX machines and other required audio/visual equipment.
• Work under supervision to proactively develop training materials.
• Possess excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Must be experienced in using Microsoft Office software tools.
• Able to work in a team concept to accomplish common goals.
• Must interact with military and other government personnel using the appropriate dialect and affording the proper courtesies while observing the correct customs.
• Possess interpersonal skills to accept assignments and communicate technical concepts in layman's terms.
• Ability to analyze and interpret instructions and standards.
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance when required by the contract.
• Must pass background checks to obtain a base access pass to military installations and contractor facilities.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Instructional Systems Design, or closely related field, or equivalent. Closely related degrees must have the majority (or "a core group") of coursework in instructional design theory and practice.
• Additional qualifications or experience as required by the contract position.
• Successful completion of an approved Military Instructor Training Program preferred.
