Under the supervision of the Director I - Information Technology, the Information Technology Support Specialist is responsible for installing requested networking equipment in school and office locations, trouble-shooting equipment problems, connecting devices to a local area network, and performing basic aspects of network administration to include Active Directory Infrastructure Management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform analytical, technical, and administrative work in the planning and installation of new and existing personal devices and workstations
- Diagnose and resolve problems in response to reported incidents
- Plan and analyze work processes
- Research and report trends and patterns of problems
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues
- Perform backup and recovery operations
- Consult with equipment users to identify needs and requirements
- Ensure rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices
- Keep track of technological advancements and trends in IT support
- Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge of Windows operating system
- Working knowledge of Windows server platform
- Thorough knowledge of computer repair processes
- Ability to support application suites such as Microsoft Office
- Self-motivation and initiative
- Ability to work, exercising tact and courtesy, with teachers, staff, co-workers, and administrators
- Ability to work as a team player on projects and specific initiatives
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a community college with a major in Information Technology
- Considerable experience with installing local area networks is required
- Network administrator certification or network engineer certification is preferred
